Our History
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics is one of the foundational departments of the University of Port Harcourt, established to provide mathematical training and produce graduates equipped with analytical and quantitative skills needed in academia, industry, and government.
Over the years, the department has grown significantly in both size and reputation, offering undergraduate and postgraduate programs that cover pure mathematics, applied mathematics, and statistics. Our faculty members are actively engaged in research spanning algebra, analysis, topology, numerical methods, probability, and statistical modeling.
The e-library is our latest initiative to make mathematical knowledge more accessible to students and researchers. It provides a curated collection of textbooks, monographs, and reference materials that support our curriculum and research activities.
